Rev. Victor Ray Brooks Sr. was born on September 20, 1958 to Pernella and J.L. Brooks in Detroit, Michigan. He was the youngest son of thirteen children. Victor married Chanel Banks, and to this union; four children were born. He later divorced and married Birthea Andrews; to that union, one child was born. Victor started his schooling in Detroit, Michigan; then joined the United States Marine Corps in 1977. In 1980, he left the Corp and enrolled in seminary school. He became the pastor of First Baptist Tabernacle Church in Chicago, Illinois for fifteen years. IN 1997, he returned to his home town of Detroit where he remained until his transition to be with the Lord. Victor loved watching westerns, game shows, listening to old Motown music, and eating. Victor was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Anthony Brooks; sisters, Patricia Green, Darlene Brooks, Brenda Brooks, and Mary Young. To those left to cherish his memories: children, Shaundra Brooks, Valerie Brooks, Victor Ray Brooks II (Hoshiko), Carolyn Brooks, Stephen Brooks (Audra); six grandchildren; siblings, Valerie Brooks, Deborah Brooks, Martin Brooks, Carol Young, Denise Higgins, Shalown and Lashown Jackson; uncle, David Brooks, and a host of relatives and friends.
